Dr. Syed Umair is an Internal Medicine and Geriatrics-trained physician based in Tampa, Florida, where he has practiced for over 12 years within the AdventHealth and HCA Healthcare systems. Passionate about giving back to Pakistan, he co-founded the Pakistan Stroke Initiative (PSI) and serves as its Director of U.S. Operations. His vision is to ensure that every stroke patient in Pakistan has access to timely, equitable, and life-saving care. Through PSI, he is helping establish Pakistan’s first comprehensive public-sector Stroke Center at JPMC Karachi, paving the way for a nationwide model of accessible stroke care.
The Pakistan Stroke Initiative is dedicated to transforming stroke care in Pakistan by focusing on early stroke intervention, comprehensive physician training, and expanding access to life-saving healthcare services. Our mission is to reduce the burden of stroke-related deaths and disabilities by empowering healthcare professionals, increasing public awareness, and improving the standard of care nationwide.
