Dr. Hisham Salahuddin is a board-certified Neurologist with subspecialty certifications in Vascular Neurology, Neurosonology, Neurocritical Care, and Interventional Neurology. He completed his advanced training at the University of Toledo in Ohio and the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
He was instrumental in establishing the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Antelope Valley Medical Center in Los Angeles and has authored multiple publications in the field of stroke and interventional neurology.
Dr. Salahuddin is deeply committed to medical education and currently serves as the Chair of the Education Committee of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN). He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Pakistan International Neuroscience Society
Passionate about improving access to stroke care globally, Dr. Salahuddin co-founded the Pakistan Stroke Initiative, which developed a dedicated stroke unit and training at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD)—Pakistan’s first free public-sector hospital to provide mechanical thrombectomy for severe strokes.
The Pakistan Stroke Initiative is dedicated to transforming stroke care in Pakistan by focusing on early stroke intervention, comprehensive physician training, and expanding access to life-saving healthcare services. Our mission is to reduce the burden of stroke-related deaths and disabilities by empowering healthcare professionals, increasing public awareness, and improving the standard of care nationwide.
